The Letter

Dear [Your Director/Principal/Supervisor’s Name Here]:

As you know, I am always looking for professional development opportunities so that I can continue to strengthen my teaching and help my students reach their fullest potential. Never has that been more important than now, with so many teachers and families raising concerns about student behaviors. It’s my mission to address these concerns utilizing trauma-informed practices informed by the latest research in neuroscience.

That is why I am writing to request funding for a 4-hour online training called “Restraint and Seclusion in Schools: What Educators, Administrators, and Related Professionals Need to Know.” This course will provide me with the ability to bring new skills and understanding to my classroom that will help foster healthy learning and development for my students. I will learn about alternatives to restraint and seclusion as well as their current impact on students.

Below are just a few of the many ways my students will benefit when I bring this training to life in my classroom:

I know that funds are limited, and I am prepared to devote the time necessary to use the high-quality resources and training available in this course and implement them in my classroom.
