Kids of the World Should Be in Charge of Their Learning

Some of the info from here comes from in-person school in my change to virtual and my little sister’s hard time in person.

Have you ever wondered who changes schools? Who makes it different? Well, I have realized who does, and they shouldn’t be. We should be; the kids of the world should be in charge of their learning! I believe kids should have the right to their own learning because kids like different topics in school, kids learn differently, and most of all cuz, adults are controlling our learning like puppets.

One reason that kids have the right to their own learning is because they have different interests and things in school. You might like a certain thing in school and never get to learn about it. For example, I’ve been waiting since first grade for a fantasy writing unit, and I’m in fourth grade now, and I still haven’t had it. If I had control of my own learning, I would have been happy as a dog sunbathing. I already would have had my fantasy unit. Another example is I have a little sister, Jaycee. She loves technology, but her school never has anything in it. If Jaycee was in charge of her own learning she would have a bunch of learning about technology. In addition, my little sister, Jaycee, has a hard time at school.

If Jaycee was in charge of her own learning, she would make sure she only had topics that made her happy and not get so upset.

Some claim teachers control our learning, but my teacher told me she gets a schedule in the beginning of the year telling her when she’s teaching us, the things she teaches us, and how she’s teaching us the things. She’s got a whole schedule for it, and she didn’t even decide on any of it.

Reason 2: Every kid learns differently. For example, I start really early, and I like to do my afternoon learning first because then I get most of it done in the morning. Then, I only have to focus on reading and writing in the afternoon. But other kids start late and do afternoon learning in the afternoon and reading and writing in the morning. Some kids start on time and do reading and writing in the morning and afternoon Learning. In the afternoon, some kids start late and don’t even do anything in the morning; they just do everything in the afternoon. Another example my sister Jaycee’s brain is different. She learns differently from other people. She learns better from technology and stuff like that better from real people because Jaycee likes technology better and she’ll listen to it more than real people. Everyone learns differently. Like I see my cousins, and I don’t work the same. Some of my cousins work faster than me cuz they work faster, and that’s how they do their school, but I work a bit slower because that’s how I do my school.

As long as we’re doing it, it doesn’t matter if we do it differently as long as we’re doing it.

Reason three: Adults are controlling school like a puppet. For example, when I was in kindergarten, they were controlling it like crazy; they were controlling our snack times. If I had been in control of my own learning, I would have had snacks when I was hungry, and I would never go starving. Another example I’ve seen is my mom watching videos about school boards, for instance, changing schools in ways that could make it difficult for some kids. If I were in charge of my own learning, I would make sure everything was great, and I would know the way I can learn, and I would not have trouble learning because I would be controlling my learning, not adults controlling my learning like a puppet.

That’s why we should be in charge of our own learning. The three reasons above are that Kids like different things, kids learn differently, and adults are controlling our learning like puppets. Too often, grown-ups have been controlling our learning, making it harder for some kids and easier for others. Instead, kids should be controlling our learning, making it easier for all of them to learn. Sure, adults will be telling us what we need help with like our teachers, but we will control our schedule and everything we need to.
