Podcast (AASR Live)

Join us every other Thursday at 3:30 (ET) for AASR Live. AASR Live is the Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint’s bi-weekly live video/audio podcast. We began AASR Live on April 23rd, 2020, and have recorded over 100 episodes. AASR Live was developed to share better ways to support children, teachers, and staff while reducing punitive discipline practices such as restraint, seclusion, suspension, expulsion, and corporal punishment. The bi-weekly show typically runs 60-75 minutes and includes presentations, interviews, and discussions. Our live events are broadcast on FacebookYouTube and LinkedIn.

Our 2024 Podcast Sponsors

We are very excited to have a couple of amazing sponsors for our 2024 podcast episodes.

Connie Persike, who started Supportable Solutions, has over 20 years of experience helping staff, caregivers, and students do better. Connie and her team work as coaches, consultants, bridges between parties, and in whatever capacity needed to ensure that every student gets the care, attention, and support that they need to succeed.

As a child, Ryan DeLena had difficulty controlling his emotions, and he was placed in therapeutic schools that relied on detrimental methods of behavior modification, such as physical restraint. Nothing helped from a team of doctors to heavy medication. Then, in 2010, Ryan was voluntarily committed to a mental hospital for further evaluation. His parents, Rob and Mary Beth, were counseled to place him in a group home. They refused. This is the story of a misunderstood boy, a father’s growth, and a shared love of the outdoors that formed their unbreakable bond.

Are you looking for a trauma-informed social-emotional learning program? Bluejack Kids has created an amazing collection of SEL videos with ready-to-use lesson plans and activity worksheets. The Trauma-Informed Educators Network had a chance to review the content, and this is what they said: We love that Bluejack Kids incorporates neuroscience to help students understand their brains and emotions. The videos are so well done, with a clear focus on diversity, belonging, and inclusion. Use the code “SEL10” for a 10% discount on a year subscription!
