Community Standards

The AASR social media platforms are intended to support a community that is interested in impacting positive change related to the use of restraint and seclusion in schools and supporting our mission, vision, and values. We recognize that our community is diverse and includes: parents, teachers, related professionals, administrators, self-advocates, attorneys, professional advocates, and others. We recognize that members of our community have been impacted and traumatized by the use of restraint and seclusion and want to be supportive. We want our social media platforms to be a safe place for our community.

Do not support abusive practices

This group is dedicated to reducing and eliminating the use of restraint and seclusion in schools. If you support the use of these practices this is not the right group for you.

Be Kind and Courteous

We’re all in this together and we want AASR to be a safe and supportive environment. Let’s treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.

No Hate Speech or Bullying

We want to ensure that everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn’t allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity will not be tolerated.

No Promotions or Spam

Promoting businesses or services is not permitted on AASR social media channels without prior consent.

Respect Everyone’s Privacy

Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What’s shared in the group should stay in the group.

Recognize no one is perfect

We are a team of volunteers who are dedicated to improving lives and making our schools safer for students, teachers, and staff. If you think we get something wrong please reach out and let us know.
